Oilstore Ltd was established in early 2000 with the aim of using the internet to enable engineers or buyers to purchase lubricants via a single transaction, single invoice and with deliveries in one or two shipments.
We've changed fundamentally since those early days, mainly after finding the many problems engineers had with lubricants used in production processes - and our chance exposure to tube drawing. Being staffed by formulators trained by the major lubricants suppliers, it will come as no surprise that our interests and those of engineers where at one - to formulate a solution. Better still from the clients' perspective, we help quickly. This attitude has been a great success, particularly in the tube drawing and metal forming industries. Amazingly, we've found that there is no need to advertise or cold call clients to gain sales - we rely on recommendations between engineers or buyers. Our aim is to have a small core of key customers, but to serve them well. Strange for some, we are not interested in growing beyond a small company and we know our reach.
Coincidentally, developing our own products enabled us to identify chemicals of interest to a wide range of industries. So we've built a chemicals business - we are particularly strong in synthetic esters (PEG, mono and polyol), organic siloxanes and new trike free solvent cleaners. We also design our own molecules with specific properties eg high lubricity siloxanes for aluminium cutting, renewable ester for plasticisers and lubricants, chlorine free replacements for stainless steel drawing, etc.
European is our core market. We have a sister company in China and export to other countries, but our focus is Europe.
